Ich weiß im Moment nicht, ob ich weinen oder lachen soll…

Der beliebte E-Mail Client Sparrow für Mac und iOS wurde von Google gekauft.

We care a lot about how people communicate, and we did our best to provide you with the most intuitive and pleasurable mailing experience.

Now we’re joining the Gmail team to accomplish a bigger vision — one that we think we can better achieve with Google.

We’d like to extend a special thanks to all of our users who have supported us, advised us, given us priceless feedback and allowed us to build a better mail application. While we’ll be working on new things at Google, we will continue to make Sparrow available and provide support for our users.

Mailclient Sparrow for Mac mit Update und reduziertem Preis

Kam schon als ‘Sneak-News’ auf unseren Social Web Kanälen und nun auch hier im Blog…

Der alternative E-Mail Client Sparrow für den Mac steht erstmals zum reduzierten Preis von 3,99 Euro (50% Rabatt) im Mac App Store zum Download bereit.

Dazu ist die App nun bereit für Mountain Lion und es gibt eine Unterstützung des Retina Displays, sowie Notification Centers.

Wer mit Sparrow noch gar nichts anfangen kann, liest sich am besten unser Review inkl. eines kleinen Updateartikels durch. Darüber hinaus kann man sich auf der Sparrow Homepage eine kostenlose Testversion herunterladen.

Sparrow Mail für den Mac mit POP Support und Unified Inbox

Sparrow, eine durchaus brauchbare Alternative zu Apples Mail.app, hatten wir letzten September schon etwas näher vorgestellt.Bildschirmfoto 2012 05 15 um 18 08 57 s

Mit der heute erschienenen Version 1.6 unterstützt der ehemalige IMAP-only Mail-Client auch das Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3); wer auch immer das noch nutzen mag ;) Außerdem gibt es nun endlich eine längst überfällige Unified Inbox.

Nachfolgend das komplette Changelog.

  • POP support
  • Unified inbox, starred, sent, drafts, trash
  • Esc on Quick Reply saves a message as a draft
  • Empty spam button
  • Inbox Zero message when your inbox is clean
  • Composer: “sender” field no accessible with Tab key
  • Pull-to-refresh for starred, unread, priority messages
  • Shift-Command-Option-M toggles extended sidebar
  • App startup time improvement
  • Bug fixes

Nutzer der Downloadversion von Sparrow können das Update sofort einspielen. Wer die Mac App Store Version besitzt, muss leider noch den Approval Process der App durch Apple abwarten.
